What is RTLS? 

It is used to track the location of assets or people in real time within a limited area or building. The system consists of an RTLS tag attached to or carried by an asset or person that requires location information, and a device called a locator that transmits and receives signals from the tag. The location of the person or asset is known through location engine software that calculates the location coordinates. It is a technology that can be extended to various solutions such as travel history, security management and automated entry and exit management of a specific area, location-based wayfinding, and worker safety management. 

What happens when RTLS is applied to the healthcare industry?

Within a hospital, there are numerous healthcare assets, patients, and staff intertwined. As such, there has always been a need for efficient operation and management, and healthcare RTLS technology is a response to this need.
